The SynQuest Quality Control Department has extensive analytical capabilities allowing us to ensure all materials, both raw materials and finished products, meet our strict requirements. In addition to this, we have working relationships with local universities and other partners to supplement our own testing and analytical capabilities. We take pride in the fact that we are able to fully test the majority of our over one hundred ten thousand products in-house. While many distributors simply transfer questionable supplier data to their certificates of authenticity, we ensure that our customers always receive high quality materials.
Gas Chromatography - This is our primary tool for ensuring quality and we have several instruments located throughout our facility. Each of our production and R&D laboratories has access to quality control grade and monitoring GC’s, which allow our chemists to monitor reactions during production as well as ensure their quality before submitting their materials to our Analytical Department. Our Analytical Department has multiple GCs specifically delegated to quality control to ensure that the instruments used for our outgoing products are operated in an optimal manner. Due to the wide variety of products that we offer, we have multiple types of GC detectors including FID, TCD, and BID.
Mass Spectrometry – We have GC mass spectrometers delegated to either production and R&D or to Analytical Services. This allows our production teams to monitor their reactions as needed and for the Analytical lab to analyze and perform trace analyses as needed on our final products. Our internal library of Mass Spectrum allows the quick and certain identification of our many products and simplifies the identification of trace impurities.
NMR Spectroscopy – We use NMR to obtain 1H, 13C, and 19F spectra, which allows us to identify and qualify our materials. For more challenging identifications, we have the ability to perform CDEC, FDEC, HFDEC, Paramagnetic, COSY, TOCOSY, ROSEY, JRES, T1, T2, and Quantitative NMR.
FTIR – We have a vast variety of spectra in our internal library as well as commercial libraries that allow us to identify our products and raw materials. Our Analytical personnel are experienced in interpreting the spectra of novel materials to assist in their identification.
UV/VIS – We are able to perform UV/VIS spectrophotometry, which is especially useful for our customers who are interested in the optical qualities of our materials. This is particularly beneficial for the many polymer precursors that we offer.
Refractive Index – We have an ABBE refractometer that helps us to verify the identity of materials as well as to help ensure their optical properties.
Polarimetry – Allows us to ensure the chiral purity of our materials. We also have chiral columns for HPLC and GC to determine enantiomeric excess so that we can relate the optical rotation to ee for novel materials.
Turbidity – We use a Fisher turbidity meter to verify that our clear liquids are truly clear. It is also used to verify that known solutions are clear at the reported concentrations.
APHA and Gardner Color – We use both electronic measuring devices and visual comparisons to standards for materials that have color specifications.
Karl Fisher Titration – We measure water content for solids, liquids, and gases. In addition to performing the common coulometric titrations in solution we have a KFT oven for high melting insoluble solids and a gas sampling apparatus.
Optimelt Meltemp – This automated system allows us to obtain extremely consistent melting points for solids and a video record of the analysis.
Titration - Titrando autotitrator – This system allows us to perform aqueous and non-aqueous acid/base titrations and silver nitrate titrations with high reproducibility and tracking. We also perform a multitude of wet-bench titrations.
HPLC – Our HPLC system allows us to test some of the larger molecules in our catalog. With PDA and refractive index detectors, we are able to analyze a wide variety of materials.
